Ham' Dies at 77 PITTSFIELD Herbert C. Ham, 77, of 87 Commonwealth former purchasing agent for Eaton Paper died Wednesday in Hillcrest Hospital. Mr. Ham was sales manager for the former Worthy Paper Agawam, from 1933 to 1945. A native of Somerville, he attended Somerville schools and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

His career in the paper industry began when he went to work for his father in 1921, at Ham Paper Boston. He joined Eaton Paper Co. in 1948, and retired in 1964. He was an ordnance officer the Army Air Forces in World War II. He was a member of St.

Stephen's Episcopal Church. His wife, the former Violet Lindsay, died in 1959. He leaves a brother, James L. of Boston. The funeral will be today at Wellington funeral home with committal Friday in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.

State School Patient Buried The funeral of Joseph Saikevicz, 67, who died Saturday in Belchertown State School, was Wednesday with burial in Brookside Cemetery.

O'Brien funeral home was in charge. He was the subject of a recent court ruling that life-prolonging medical treatment could withheld. Saikevicz was dying of leukemia and doctors testified that treatment would make his last months a painful nightmare. The decision was hailed as a landmark in protecting the rights of the mentally incompetent in life and death decisions. He lived in the school 53 years and doctors said he had the mind of a 3-year-old child.
