Former President Donald Trump will make his third trip to Wisconsin next week with a campaign event in Racine, where he plans to discuss how President Joe Biden “has failed the great people of Wisconsin,” according to his campaign.

Trump will hold a rally at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Racine Festival Park, where he will look to target Biden on issues ranging from the economy to border security and crime, topics the former president has highlighted in previous campaign stops.

“Bidenomics has created suffering for families in Wisconsin,” Trump’s campaign said in a statement announcing next week’s visit.

“We can Make America Great Again by tackling lawlessness head-on, ceasing the endless flow of illegal immigrants across our southern border, and reversing the detrimental effects of inflation by restoring people’s wealth,” Trump’s campaign continued.

U.S. inflation eased in May for the second straight month, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

All told, grocery costs remained unchanged, on average, from April to May, after falling by .2% the previous month. Food prices have increased by 1% over the last 12 months, but remain up about 20% compared with three years ago.

Gas prices also have dropped 3.6% nationally from April to May, but remain 2.2% higher than a year ago.

“Thanks to President Biden, Wisconsinites are seeing job creation, higher wages, and lower costs on things like prescription drugs and health care,” Democratic National Committee spokesperson Addy Toevs said Wednesday. “Trump was a disaster for Wisconsin, and voters won’t forget when they cast their ballots in November.”

Trump and Biden appear to be in a neck-and-neck matchup in this battleground state, according to a Marquette Law School poll released in April.

The poll showed 51% of respondents — including both registered and likely voters — backed Trump, while 49% supported Biden, well within the poll’s 4.8% margin of error.

Among registered voters, 33% said the economy is the most important issue facing the county, while immigration and border security came in second with 21%. Abortion policy, a major Democratic talking point since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in the summer of 2022, was the top issue for 13% of respondents.

Broken down by party, the economy was the top issue among Republican voters at 43%, followed by immigration and border security at 37%. Abortion was the top issue among Democratic voters at 24%, followed by the economy at 22%.

Trump previously held rallies in Green Bay in April and Waukesha last month.

Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and several surrogates have made multiple trips to Wisconsin this year. Biden and Harris each have visited the state four times this year. First lady Jill Biden will make her fourth visit to the state with an event in Green Bay on Thursday.

Biden defeated Trump in Wisconsin by 20,682 votes in 2020, while Trump won the state in 2016 by securing 22,748 more votes than Democratic challenger Hillary Clinton.
