This past weekend in Quebec City, Erin Davis delivered a session on "Navigating Inclusive Waters" at the Rowing Canada Aviron Conference. The conference, held under the backdrop of RCA's recent funding success from the Community Sport for All Initiative (CSAI), showcased a commitment to inclusivity in rowing programs.In July 2022, RCA received $885,000 in funding from the CSAI inciative, which has been strategically allocated to various community-level programs targeting Indigenous, 2SLGBTQQIA+, Black, Girls and Women, Low-Income, Newcomers, and Individuals with Disabilities. These programs, designed with an organized sport active component and delivered with minimal to no cost to participants, aim to be inclusive without being exclusionary.The session dove into the heart of the matter, focusing on equipping leaders with the tools and confidence to engage with diverse communities and create a lasting impact through CSAI initiatives. The session covered vital aspects such as the importance of inclusivity in rowing programs, the role of CSAI leaders in fostering diversity, and the identification of challenges and opportunities in expanding programs for Equity Seeking Populations. Navigating Inclusive Waters served as an inspiring call to action, encouraging all leaders to be champions of inclusivity in their rowing programs.
