CJSF is a campus/community radio station located at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, BC. CJSF is volunteer-run, grassroots station that provides music, public affairs, informational and cultural programming on issues and viewpoints which are underrepresented in mainstream media.
CJSF works in the interests of people, not profit and serves both the SFU campus and the surrounding off-campus community. The station broadcast at 90.1FM at 450 watts allowing it to reach most of the Greater Vancouver region. It also live streams it broadcast via the internet at www.cjsf.ca. Most programming is also available as podcasts.

Description of the LJI program
It’s local and hyperlocal journalism.
The Local Journalism Initiative (LJI) program was launched by the Community Radio Fund of Canada and funded by the Government of Canada. The program is focusing on diverse, local communities that may be underserved in the Canadian news landscape. The goal is to increase the production of community and civic news in those areas and to make that news more accessible across the country. We’re elevating original, local community news.

The Local Journalism Initiative is a national program and the Community Radio Journalist will be working with the support of a team of National Editors and other staff at CJSF Radio.
Specifically, this position will focus on building relationships and gathering local stories in and about communities outside the Vancouver core that are often under-reported by regional media. These stories can include coverage of local government, regional issues, First Nations and community organizations and events. The provincial election in October provides an opportunity to engage the local community to discover and report on relevant issues as they pertain to individual locales beyond greater Vancouver.
